The city of Varanasi is also called Benares (or Banaras) , situated on the banks of the holy River Ganges. It is one of the oldest existing cities in the world and a famous cultural and religious centre in northern India. The city was named as of its position on the delta among the rivers Varuna and Assi.

By Air :- Varanasi has its own airport, which is located at a distance of 22 km from the city.
